An Extraordinary Day in History for the U.S.A.

I am proud to be a U.S. American to have just witnessed an historic moment when New York Senator Hillary R. Clinton called for a halt to the roll call at the Democratic National Convention in order to move for Acclamation to nominate Barack Obama as the Democratic nominee for President of the U.S.. It was a stunning and astounding moment. Madam Chairman Pelosi asked for the "ayes" and the "nays" and the "ays" won it by an overwhelming and emotional majority.

This will surely put an end to the party divide so Senators Obama and Biden can move forward and win the presidency. This is the first time in my 40 years to vote for a Democrat. I am excited that this nation is moving forward in a revolutionary way for civil rights, women's rights, the environment, and the economy.

When Obama wins in November, we will finally get to work building a new green economy, one that will enable this great nation to lead the world again. A green and restoration economy will provide green manufacturing jobs, encourage social and environmental entrepreneurship, encourage community service and provide all kids the education they need to be self-reliant and to help revive our economy so that we can become energy independent, finally.

Energy independence is necessary for us to truly make progress in the fight against terror. If we stop spending hundreds of billions of dollars on the war, we can spend that money on technology to free us from our dependency on the Saudi's and stop funding nations who hate us. If we are energy indepenendent, we will be free of moving so much of our wealth to the Middle East because we won't need to make that oil purchase anymore. And, these revolutionary changes will give us the leverage we need to put new intensity in the effort to take down Osama Bin Laden.

Finally, we have a presidential candidate with the character and qualities we need to lead this revolution in our nation: courage, brilliance, leadership, creativity, inclusivity, optimism and authenticity. We have come to a time when we can imagine a light at the end of the tunnel.

And, I must say, today, Hillary, you did good.

A showcase of information useful in building sustainable communities.
